Mark Leslie
Leslie's sculptural forms, inspired by African ceramics and his interest in manipulating tactile materials, reflect an uninhibited approach to three-dimensional construction. Pieces that begin as contrived 'flat' forms develop into rich and highly sophisticated works, as Leslie builds layer upon layer of wet plaster, working into each element as the work progresses. Leslie was awarded Artscope's Raymond Gaughan Art Prize in 2004 for outstanding achievement in art.
