Our first physical exhibition THIS WAY UP was held at The Byam Shaw School of Art Concourse Gallery from July 12th to July 17th 2005.

The work was selected from The Other Side Gallery’s ever growing collection of outsider artists, artists that are on the fringes, marginalised or simply outside the mainstream art scene, or in fact mainstream society. The work shown had a high aesthetic content, with integrity and passion that bypasses the fashions of the day.

In addition to the exhibition there was a slide/sound installation in collaboration with Mick Hobbs and Martin Harris of Life and Living programme on Resonance Radio. This was a chance for the public to hear interviews with the artists talking about their life stories, experiences and motivations behind their artwork and to see the online exhibition.

Opening Speech

Talking to visitors and artists

At the opening night there were over 200 visitors.

We would also like to thank Justin Rose for the live music on the opening night.
It created a lively party atmosphere that everyone enjoyed.

Delivering work by foot!

And also thank you to all the volunteers and artists who helped to curate, deliver work, hang, invigilate and take down the show and for all their efforts in publicising the exhibition it certainly paid off.
